Chris Sligh is good, but I just decided Blake Lewis is my pick to win it all!!

Star Trek XI Casting News!
Yes, I know you are all stoked about this!!
IGN has the scoop on who is playing the Big Three! AKA Kirk, Spock, McCoy.Star Trek XI Casting Scoop!
Ice Ice Baby…
Picture this next statement in a deep, booming voice:
It was the storm of the century…..
Yeah, nasty, first came the ice, then came the snow, then went the power. Waverly lost power for only a few hours. Our local utility, Waverly Light and Power, buys their power off the magical power grid, but has the ability to self generate via diesel generators, which is what they have been doing. (Today they started to get hooked back into the “grid” so not sure how much they are self generating)
However, there are many people in the rural areas and small towns around here that still do not have power. That sucks for them. Some towns may not have power back for 5+ days!!
What really sucks is another storm is coming our way Wednesday thru Friday.
Here is a pic I took of a frozen plant behind my mailbox.

Iowa May Be Cold…..
… but I’m sure glad it ain’t Kansas!!
Darwin vs. GOD, Round 2007: Kansas Declares Darwin the Winner
The same ol’ science vs. religion dispute erupts again in the same state that had previously ruled teachers should become “downgraded-preachers” and that scientific evidence for the evolutionist theory is too scarce.
The State Board of Education approved new, evolution-friendly science standards with a 6-4 vote Tuesday, replacing ones that questioned the theory and had the support of “intelligent design” advocates.
Seriously? Think of the kids, one year they get taught ‘Intelligent Design’ and the next year they get taught Evolution. Poor little tots…
The answer is easy… ID is not science, Evolution is science, so you teach Evolution in science class. If you want to teach ID, teach it in a philosophy class or whatever. Not in a science class.
I’m comfortable believing in God and that he created the Universe, but He did it a zillion years ago. (Though I’m not getting into that, ’cause it’s Friday and I don’t do ‘deep’ on Fridays.”

Best.Game.Ever
If you own an XBOX 360 and you don’t own the greatest game ever created you need to move to France, you cheese eating surrender monkey!
The game I’m talking about is Gears of War. Holy crap is that a sweet, sweet game. You need to make sure you have a high def TV to really enjoy it in sweet, sweet 1080i.
It’s also one of the ultimate party games. With the advent of affordable LCD TV’s (my 37” is only about 60lbs) we can get several to a location and let the chainsawing, grenade sticking, torque bow, boomshotting commence! Sure, playing on XBOX Live is pretty easy and fun too, but there is something to be said about getting 6 of your buddies in a room, throw back some beers and down some chips and have a good ‘ole time. (Besides who wants to get pwned by some 12 year old kid online?)
Halo 2 is still pretty dang fun to play, and the upside of that is you can play 4 to a TV (Gears only allows 2 per TV) so you can get more dudes in the game.
So yeah, Gears rules. Video games just ain’t a bunch of anti-social dudes sitting alone in a dark basement. (Though I have done that too. Haha)

NONE LIKE IT HOT!!!
Even though I personally think man-made global warming is CRAP. I think we can pretend it is real and do some things to reduce our CO2 levels. This is where I draw the line, however. Anybody that doesn’t come out and push nuclear power as an alternative should not be in the debate.
Get this, there has not been a nuclear power plant built in the United States since 1970!! There have been gabs and gabs of advances in that area since then. Nuclear power is clean, safe, and low cost.
It’s pretty easy to say, hey, lets just build cars that plug in and recharge so we can stop using gas. Yeah, that sounds good, but where do you think electricity comes from? A magical fairy who spreads electric dust in the air? No. The majority comes from coal. That’s right, over 50% of our electricity generated in the United States comes from coal plants. Guess what, that isn’t gonna change anytime soon. We have enough coal in this country to power us for a long, long time. So, if we use more electricity and less gas, there is a good chance we will use more coal. That’s not good.
We are using more coal anyway, new coal plants are being built all over the country. Nuclear HAS to be an option. Even the founder of Greenpeace is onboard with nuclear energy.
So, those are my thoughts.. I think global warming is a more of a religion, not a science. Read some of my links below. It still is in our best interests to reduce our carbon dependency. If you are not for nuclear power, however, you don’t really care about stopping global warming.. you are a commie.. There, I said it.

We Must Help the Martians!!!
They can not obviously help themselves!! We must show them the error of their ways before their planet becomes inhabitable. What am I talking about? Global Warming, that’s what.
Yes, there is Global Warming on Mars!!! The polar ice caps are melting on Mars. Pretty soon Mars City will be under 2 feet of water. Nobody will be able to vacation on South Martian Island because it will be too hot!! Oh the horror!! What will we do!! If only those Martians would have used less greenhouse gasses, we could have avoided all of this!
Wait? What did you say? There is no greenhouse gas on Mars? What’s that you say? There are no Martians on Mars? Are you saying that maybe Global Warming isn’t martian made? It could have something to do with solar patterns along with natural climate change? Please don’t tell Al Gore.
