My Daddy the Dancer

Filed under: Misc. — Chris Neuendorf @ 5:16 pm

One day a fourth-grade teacher asked the children what their fathers did for a living.

All the typical answers came up — fireman, mechanic, businessman, salesman, doctor, lawyer, and so forth.

However, little Justin was being uncharacteristically quiet, so when the teacher prodded him about his father, he replied,

“My father’s an exotic dancer in a gay cabaret and takes off all his clothes in front of other men and they put money in his underwear. Sometimes, if the offer is really good, he will go home with some guy and stay with him all night for money.”

The teacher, obviously shaken by this statement, hurriedly set the other children to work on some exercises and then took little Justin aside to ask him, “Is that really true about your father?”

“No,” the boy said,

“He works for the Chicago White Sox, but I was too embarrassed to say that in front of the other kids.”

I’ve been invited as a guest blogger over at The Corn Beltway Boys, so my first post is up and it talks about the Blackhawk County Board of Supervisor’s vote to allow Peregrine Financial Group to come to the Cedar Valley.

Supervisors approve Peregrine zoning
CEDAR FALLS — The promise of 70 new high-paying jobs overshadowed zoning, traffic and environmental concerns as Peregrine Financial Group won approval to construct a new $10 million office building near Beaver Hills Country Club…

R.I.P Paul Hein

Filed under: Food — Chris Neuendorf @ 6:35 pm

Paul Hein, the owner of Pablo’s Mexican Grill, the greatest eatery ever, died this weekend in a car wreck. He has a restaurant in Cedar Falls and just opened one in Waverly.

Paul Hein, the owner of Pablo’s Mexican Grill, and a puppy he and his fiancee bought together, died early Saturday from injuries in a car accident.

The 35-year-old Waverly man was driving east on Orange Road at about 2:43 a.m. when his car rolled several times after leaving the road near the intersection with U.S. Highway 218.

He was a world traveler, visiting places like Nicaragua, all over Europe and New Zealand. He was a dog lover and owner of two surviving pets. He was also planning on making his and Jessica’s house a “green” house, with energy-efficient appliances.

It’s my favorite place to go. I never met Paul, but I will honor him this week by eating one burrito a day at Pablo’s every day this week. That is the only thing I will eat all day. They are closed Tuesday for the funeral so on Tuesday I will eat nothing.

Rest in Peace, Paul! You will be missed.

It’s the Dumass Award of the week!

The award goes to an 18 year old dude from Waterloo that had the pleasure of meeting a Bremer County Deputy.

On March 29, the Bremer County Sheriff’s office stopped a vehicle on Highway 3 for speeding. Investigation led to the arrest of Cody Allan Lamprecht, 18, of Waterloo for possession of alcohol under age, excessive speed of 96 mph in a 55 mph and a zero tolerance violation.

Oops….. Is he Dumass material?
