Paul Hein, the owner of Pablo’s Mexican Grill, the greatest eatery ever, died this weekend in a car wreck. He has a restaurant in Cedar Falls and just opened one in Waverly.

Paul Hein, the owner of Pablo’s Mexican Grill, and a puppy he and his fiancee bought together, died early Saturday from injuries in a car accident.

The 35-year-old Waverly man was driving east on Orange Road at about 2:43 a.m. when his car rolled several times after leaving the road near the intersection with U.S. Highway 218.

He was a world traveler, visiting places like Nicaragua, all over Europe and New Zealand. He was a dog lover and owner of two surviving pets. He was also planning on making his and Jessica’s house a “green” house, with energy-efficient appliances.

It’s my favorite place to go. I never met Paul, but I will honor him this week by eating one burrito a day at Pablo’s every day this week. That is the only thing I will eat all day. They are closed Tuesday for the funeral so on Tuesday I will eat nothing.

Rest in Peace, Paul! You will be missed.
