Conn. Student Suspended For Buying Candy In School

An eighth-grade honors student at a New Haven school has been suspended for buying a bag of candy at school.

Michael Sheridan, a student at Sheridan Middle School, was suspended from school for one day, barred from attending an honors student dinner and stripped of his title as class vice president.

Officials say he was punished because he bought a bag of Skittles from another student.

A school spokeswoman says the New Haven school system banned candy sales and fundraisers in 2003 as part of the district-wide school wellness policy.

Schools should concentrate on… you know.. actually teaching students instead of being candy nazi’s.

Heh, Governor Eliot Spitzer is “Client #9“. He got caught up in a prostitution ring. (Personally I think it should be legal, but it ain’t, so he’s boned.)

The headline on the Drudge Report simply said Client #9, which for some reason made me think of the song Mambo #5. Not sure why, but the chorus of that song actually fits with the current situation.

First off, what does this say about the skills of the Governor. When Billy Clinton was Gov of Arkansas he got all kinds of free tail. Sure, it was trailer park trash tail, but what do you expect? It’s Arkansas. If the Gov. of New Friggen York can’t get all the free tail he wants, well, he must be the words biggest dork.

Heh, the place was called the Emperor’s Club, so at least it sounds like it was high priced tail. If you go by this quote from the affidavit, we should be getting some more “details.”

Additionally, the affidavit notes that after her appointment with Client-9 ended, “Kristen” spoke with a Emperors Club booker, who said that she had been told that Client-9 “would ask you to do things that, like, you might not think were safe…” “Kristen” responded by saying, essentially, that she could handle guys like that.

“He will, of course, not rely on some plan that he’s crafted as a presidential candidate or a U.S. Senator,” she said at one point in the interview.

So, says one thing to get the nomination, but will do the opposite if he gets elected. That seems like politics as usual to me. Wait, let me say the word change 5 or 6 more times and you will magiclly forget… change change change change change change……

Oil Bubble About to Pop?

The flood of speculative investment into oil markets is inflating a price bubble that could pop and send crude prices sharply lower if U.S. petroleum demand continues to slump, analysts warned yesterday.

Crude prices continued their remarkable rally yesterday, rising 95 cents (U.S.) to close at another record high of $105.47 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

But the boom could be setting the stage for its own undoing, many analysts argue, since it is being fuelled by speculators looking to hedge against a declining U.S. dollar and devalued financial assets. Some analysts are forecasting a sharp correction in the price of crude this spring.

“It’s hard to argue that prices should be higher [now] than they were not too long ago,” said Michael Lynch, president of Strategic Energy and Economic Research Inc., of Cambridge, Mass., who has forecast that crude markets are set for a massive correction that could eventually bring prices as low as $50 a barrel.
